Strategic Asia facilitated Three One-Day Seminars sponsored by the Government of India to encourage increased cooperation between India and Indonesia in the healthcare sector. There is a strong potential for Indonesia-India cooperation across a wide variety of areas within Public Health including the pharmaceutical industry, generic drug production, hospital management and medical tourism. Future cooperation can take the form of increased bilateral trade, knowledge exchange at both the public and private level and the promotion of public private partnerships both in Indonesia and in India. Such cooperation is critical with one overarching goal in mind – increasing access to affordable healthcare, a challenge for both countries today especially in the rural areas and lesser developed cities.  This Seminar Series has been an opportunity to learn from each other’s critical challenges, success stories and vast experience in developing healthcare in highly decentralised, financially constrained and highly populated environments.
