Upcoming Launch of the Strategic Asia India Office |
Strategic Asia India represents one of the key elements of the overall development of the firm given its focus on promoting economic, political and cultural cooperation between China, India and Indonesia. While each country office determines its own consulting priorities and overall work plan, many of the core areas of concentration remain common to all offices. Governance, human security, energy security and sustainable resource use, the management of megacities, and the transmission of international shocks are all part of Strategic Asia’s policy development and facilitation programme. This is complemented by the promotion of investment flows through public-private partnerships and their regular monitoring and evaluation.
India’s “look east” policy and Indonesia’s desire to develop stronger ties with its large democratic neighbour provides a unique opportunity to enhance a structured long term cooperation between these two countries in a number of high priority areas and in the context of Indonesia’s development plan. India’s comprehensive achievements in the fields of information technology, higher education, pharmaceuticals and medicine, e-governance, anti-corruption as well as the effective public-private partnerships in infrastructure investment, all generate a high level of interest in Indonesia. On the other hand, the large Indonesian market and its enormous resource base, ability to navigate two major economic crises in a single decade, strong record on poverty alleviation, management of social conflict and resilient GDP growth continue to attract new Indian investment into Indonesia
Strategic Asia India also seeks to build on the considerable momentum already attained in terms of closer India/China ties in the recent past, not only through private investment and trade but also in urban management practices and in academic research and exchange. The India office also aims to provide Chinese investors and institutions with up to date business intelligence, risk assessment and project identification in our areas of expertise. In the future Strategic Asia India also intends to provide a platform through which conferences and other public events on subjects of mutual interest between China, India and Indonesia may be organised. |
